Recently, the Qingdao Federation of Trade Unions launched an inspection campaign to ensure workplace safety. City leaders visited the Huadian Power Company to inspect safety measures.
Since the beginning of 2014, the Qingdao federation has carried out safety inspections with a view to spotting hidden dangers, ensuring workplace safety and promoting its development. Up to now, 98% of unionized enterprises have got involved in inspections. Trade unions at all levels have drawn up safety plans, which mainly cover high-risk industries like construction, transportation and chemical production.
Up to 10 August, the city’s trade unions had discovered 93,789 safety hazards. During the first half of the year, the trade union federation twice offered training sessions for union safety inspectors, and these were taken up by 168 people. During the same period, trade unions at all levels ran training programmes for 2.1 million people. Meanwhile, 600,000 workers took part in study sessions and safety general knowledge contests organized by trade unions.
