The ACFTU will send its leaders on visits to poverty-stricken workers and deficit-ridden enterprises during the Spring Festival, announced an ACFTU spokesman at a press conference held on December 22, 2014.
Zhang Bo, Director General of the ACFTU’s Social Security Department, said that ACFTU leaders will head off for 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities during China’s most important traditional holiday.
So far, the ACFTU has set aside 353 million yuan for the Warmth Project, which is designed to help struggling workers out of poverty. Trade unions around the country will contribute an estimated 5 billion yuan. During the period, more than 10 million needy workers and migrant workers will expect visits from union leaders.
