A team of seven union officials from the Workers’ Committee of the Saudi Electricity Company arrived in Beijing on January 10, 2015 for a one-week training seminar hosted by the ACFTU.
Entitled “Trade Union Role in Promoting Enterprise Development”, the seminar covered a wide range of issues including union organizing, labor competition, labor protection, democratic management, tasks confronting trade unions in China’s electricity and trade relations between China and Saudi Arabia.
Guest speakers included experts from China’s Ministry of Commerce, Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, China Labour Movement Research Center as well as officials from ACFTU. ACFTU Vice-Chair Jiang Guangping addressed the opening ceremony.
During the training session, the Saudi union leaders also went on a trip to Shanghai, a large industrial city in China, where they visited two power plants and exchanged views and experience with their Chinese counterparts.
