Dalian: Driving a Hard Bargain


The trade union in the machinery industry in Dalian, a port city in northeast China, entered into a series of negotiations with management over minimum wages for 16 technical jobs, pushing for a 36% percent increase. After several rounds of tough talks, both sides reached agreement. The pay rise plan was approved by the workers’ congress and put into practice.
