Chinese Leader Meets ITUC Delegation

Liu Yunshan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee met with a delegation from the ITUC led by its General Secretary Sharan Burrow at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People on 8th October, 2014.





Liu said relying whole-heartedly on the working class is China’s consistent principle. The Chinese Party and the government give high credit to hard work. Over the past decades, the Chinese trade unions have played an important role in promoting reform and development as well as safeguarding workers’ rights and interests.

Liu noted that the ACFTU and the ITUC have expanded their dialogue and enhanced their cooperation since the two organizations established bilateral relationship. He hoped that the two organizations would foster exchanges and cooperation and contribute their share to the realization of workers’ rights and interests.

Sharan Burrow spoke highly of the tremendous achievements China has scored in promoting inclusive development and developing workers’ rights and interest over the past 65 years.  As the 2016 G20 Summit will be held in Beijing, Sharan wished the meeting a complete success in advance and expressed her willingness to strengthen partnership with ACFTU within the framework of APEC and G20.
